AWS Engineer

Remote Contract Infrastructure

Architect and run the AWS side of client platforms: serverless, containers, and the data stores under them.

  • AWS
  • Lambda
  • Fargate
  • DynamoDB
  • Terraform
  • CDK
[ 01 ] — The Role

Many of our enterprise clients are on AWS and are not moving. This role owns that half of the practice: Lambda and Fargate workloads, event driven architecture on SNS and SQS, DynamoDB and Aurora underneath, all defined in Terraform or CDK.

You will work across client accounts with real compliance constraints, which means the infrastructure has to be defensible in an audit as well as fast.

[ 02 ] — You will
01

Design the architecture

  • Architect serverless and containerized workloads on Lambda, Fargate, and ECS, and know when each one is the wrong choice
  • Build event driven systems on SNS, SQS, and EventBridge with dead letter queues and replay paths that actually work
  • Model data on DynamoDB and Aurora, including access pattern design and the cost implications of getting it wrong at scale
02

Codify everything

  • Define infrastructure in Terraform or CDK, with modules that survive being reused across client accounts
  • Build CI/CD pipelines with staged rollout, automated verification, and a rollback path that has been tested
  • Manage multi account organizations, IAM boundaries, and network topology across VPCs and Transit Gateway
03

Keep it healthy

  • Own observability through CloudWatch, X-Ray, and whatever the client already runs, and make dashboards that answer questions
  • Drive cost optimization: right sizing, savings plans, and finding the forgotten resources burning money every month
  • Lead incident response on production systems and close the loop with durable fixes
[ 03 ] — What you bring

Required

  • Four or more years architecting and operating production AWS environments
  • Strong infrastructure as code with Terraform or AWS CDK, not console driven administration
  • Real depth in IAM, VPC networking, and the security model, including where it is easy to get wrong
  • Scripting in Python, TypeScript, or Go, and comfort reading application code to debug an infrastructure symptom

Helpful, not required

  • DynamoDB optimization at scale, including large volume deletion and migration patterns
  • GCP experience alongside AWS
  • Compliance exposure: SOC 2, PCI, or HIPAA constrained environments
