OCAPI is SFCC's older REST API for storefront and data operations. SCAPI (Shopper APIs) is the newer, more performant headless API. We recommend SCAPI for new headless builds.

An SFCC to Shopify migration makes sense when your brand no longer needs SFCC's complex catalog management, B2B capabilities, or deep Salesforce ecosystem integrations and wants to reduce total cost of ownership. However, brands with multi-site deployments, contract pricing, or heavy OMS requirements often find that Shopify Plus cannot replicate those capabilities — making the migration decision highly dependent on your specific operational complexity.
Salesforce Commerce Cloud customization typically costs 2–3x more than equivalent Shopify Plus development due to SFCC's steeper learning curve, specialized developer talent pool, and more complex deployment processes.
