Engineering Lead and Client Partner
A player coach seat that combines technical lead, delivery owner, and second seat on sales.
- TypeScript
- Python
- AWS
- GCP
- Terraform
- Postgres
This is a player coach seat that combines three jobs most agencies split across three people: technical lead on client engagements, project manager for delivery, and the second seat on sales. You will be the most senior technical voice on the accounts you run and directly responsible for the revenue those accounts produce.
You are not handed a backlog. You scope the work, architect it, build a meaningful share of it yourself, and stand behind the result in front of the client.
Lead engineering delivery
- Own architecture and implementation on client engagements: TypeScript services, Python, serverless and containerized workloads (Lambda, Fargate, Cloud Run), Postgres, event buses (SNS/SQS, Pub/Sub), and IaC (Terraform or CDK)
- Ship production code yourself, review everything that goes out, and set the technical standard for subcontractors
- Run discovery and validation phases: audit vendor APIs, find the capability gaps before they become change orders, and write architecture documents clients sign off on
Run projects
- Own scope, timelines, exit criteria, and acceptance on phased SOWs
- Run client standups, manage dependencies on the client side, and keep engagements out of the ditch
- Write the change orders, runbooks, and knowledge transfer material that make handoff clean
Support sales
- Join discovery calls as the technical authority and translate a vague ask into a scoped, buildable statement of work
- Size and estimate engagements honestly, including the parts that will be hard
- Grow existing accounts by finding the next problem worth solving, not by padding the current one
Required
- Eight or more years building and shipping production software, with real depth in at least one of TypeScript, Python, or Go
- You have owned an engagement end to end: scoping, architecture, delivery, and the client relationship
- Fluency in cloud infrastructure on AWS or GCP, including the failure modes, not just the happy path
- You can hold a technical conversation with a client CTO and a commercial conversation with a client CFO in the same hour
- Direct written communication. You write documents people actually read and decisions people can act on
Helpful, not required
- Agency or consultancy background where utilization and margin were your problem too
- Experience with agentic AI systems or multi-agent orchestration in production
- Enterprise commerce exposure: Shopify Plus, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or headless migrations
Also hiring.
Forward Deployed Engineer, Agentic Commerce
Remote Applied AI
Embed with commerce clients and ship agent driven discovery, catalog, and checkout systems into production on their stack, not ours.
Forward Deployed Engineer, Enterprise AI Integrations
Remote Applied AI
Wire LLM agents into the ERPs, CRMs, and ticketing systems enterprises already run, inside the client environment, and make the integrations survive production.
Forward Deployed Engineer, Private LLM Inference
Remote Applied AI
Stand up self hosted and private LLM inference inside client infrastructure, from model selection and serving stack to the agents that run on it, and hand it over running.
