Engagement

How we build WordPress Development

A repeatable four-phase engagement. Same rigor every time, scoped to the work in front of us.

Phase 01
Week 1-2

Discover

We map the current state, surface constraints, and lock the scope before any code is written. You leave the phase with a written success definition.

  • Audit document
  • Success criteria
  • Risk register
Phase 02
Week 2-3

Architect

We pick the stack, design the data model, and prove the riskiest path first. Architecture decisions are reviewed with your team before build starts.

  • Architecture doc
  • Stack decision record
  • Spike on riskiest path
Phase 03
Week 3-10

Build

Iterative delivery in weekly increments. You see working software every Friday, can redirect priorities each Monday, and never wait six weeks for a demo.

  • Weekly demo cadence
  • Production-ready code
  • CI/CD + tests
Phase 04
Week 10+

Operate

We ship with observability, hand off runbooks, and stay accountable post-launch. 30-day hypercare is included on every engagement.

WordPress Chosen Deliberately

WordPress remains a capable publishing platform when its architecture is intentional. Problems usually come from an undisciplined plugin stack, a page builder that owns the content, or infrastructure that has never been designed for the site's traffic and editorial workflow.

We build WordPress systems that editors can use confidently and engineers can maintain without fear.

Custom Block-Based Publishing

For traditional WordPress builds, we create a focused Gutenberg system with custom blocks, patterns, theme settings, and guarded design choices. Content remains portable and editors can assemble pages without introducing inconsistent markup or styles.

Headless WordPress

When the use case warrants it, WordPress becomes the editorial backend for a Next.js, React, Vue, or Nuxt frontend. We define a stable API layer, preview workflow, caching and revalidation strategy, media handling, and deployment pipeline.

The architecture preserves the familiar WordPress editor while giving the customer-facing experience an independent release cycle.

Performance and Security

We reduce unnecessary plugins, optimize queries and media, introduce page and object caching, configure CDN behavior, harden authentication, and establish backups and update procedures. Observability is included so regressions are detected rather than discovered by customers.

WooCommerce and Integrations

For suitable catalogs, we build custom WooCommerce experiences and connect payments, tax, fulfillment, CRM, email, and ERP systems. Where commerce complexity has outgrown WooCommerce, we can plan a staged move to Shopify, BigCommerce, or another platform without discarding valuable editorial content.

FAQ

Common questions

Everything you need to know before starting a project with us.

Yes. We choose between a custom block theme and a headless frontend based on publishing needs, integration complexity, performance targets, team capability, and total operating cost.

Headless WordPress is useful when WordPress must feed multiple experiences, when the frontend requires an application framework, or when deployment and performance requirements exceed a traditional theme. It is not automatically better for every marketing site.

Yes. We audit plugin ownership, security, performance, and overlap; replace fragile dependencies with maintained or custom functionality; and introduce a controlled staging and release workflow.

Yes. We preserve URL intent, metadata, structured data, internal links, assets, author and taxonomy relationships, and publication dates. Redirects and crawl validation are completed before cutover.
